Advancing education with evidence, integrity and innovation

Research

Our services are grounded in data and evidence and aligned to the strategies and frameworks that shape education across all sectors. We do not shy away from the research that exists around us — we bring it to the forefront and demonstrate how our advisory work connects to it.

Our Evidence Base

Edvance is committed to evidence informed practice across all service areas. Every recommendation we make is grounded in current research, aligned to the strategies and frameworks that matter most to school leaders, and designed to be practically implementable in your school's context.

We work across independent, Catholic and government schools. Our evidence base draws on government strategies, sector frameworks and peer reviewed research because strong evidence is strong evidence regardless of where it comes from. As a private advisory service, we reference publicly available government and university research because it is high quality, current and directly relevant to the schools we serve.

Key Frameworks and Strategies

Our services are aligned to the following frameworks, strategies and evidence sources. These represent the current landscape of educational research that school leaders across all sectors are expected to understand and apply.

NSW Staff Wellbeing Strategy

The NSW Department of Education's Staff Wellbeing Strategy for supporting the wellbeing of all staff in NSW public schools sets a clear direction for what effective staff wellbeing looks like at a system level. Our staff wellbeing services are designed to help schools understand and apply these priorities in their own context.

What Works Best (2025 Update)

CESE's evidence guide demonstrates that higher levels of wellbeing are linked to better academic achievement, lower absenteeism, stronger transition pathways and positive social behaviours. This is foundational research for our staff wellbeing and student wellbeing services.

NSW Wellbeing Framework for Schools

Built around Connect, Succeed and Thrive, this framework provides a holistic model of wellbeing across cognitive, emotional, social, physical and spiritual domains. Our services map directly to these domains and help schools translate the framework into practical, sustainable action.

CESE Publications

The Centre for Education Statistics and Evaluation produces rigorous, data driven research on what works in education. We draw on CESE publications across all our service areas to ensure our advisory work is aligned to the best available Australian evidence.

Monash University: Evidence Briefs

Monash University's evidence briefs on school wellbeing provide peer reviewed, university level research that complements and contextualises government strategies. We draw on this research to strengthen the academic foundation of our wellbeing services.

Visible Learning: John Hattie

The most comprehensive meta-analysis of educational research in the world, synthesising over 100,000 studies on what actually works in schools. Hattie's work underpins our approach to teaching quality, feedback, learning support and leadership development.

Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER)

Australia's leading independent educational research organisation, producing rigorous research on school improvement, student outcomes, wellbeing and teacher effectiveness. ACER's work applies across all school sectors and informs our approach to evidence based practice.

Positive Education Schools Association (PESA)

The peak body for positive education in Australia, drawing on Seligman's PERMA framework and evidence based approaches to wellbeing. PESA's work is particularly relevant to our staff wellbeing and student wellbeing services.
